STONE PARK, Ill. – A determined convent of nuns in Chicago have filed suit against a strip club they say plays disturbing music while they try to pray.
The nuns of St. Charles have named Club Allure Chicago and the village of Stone Park in their suit which was filed Friday in Cook County Circuit Court.
According to the suit, the sisters have seen “public violence, drunkenness and litter, including empty whiskey and beer bottles, discarded contraceptive packages and products and even used condoms,”. The lawsuit also mentions the “pulsating and rhythmic staccato-beat noise and flashing neon and or strobe lights” that disturb the nuns.
“Our sisters’ sacred space has been invaded,” according to Sister Noemia Silva. “At night now they hear the music when they’re praying. That’s uncalled for.”
According to attorney Peter Breen of the Thomas More Society, a Chicago-based public interest law firm representing the convent, the sisters have a right to pray and work peacefully without interference.
However the Stone Park Village Attorney Dean Krone states that the village has acted legally and reasonably and the club manager, Robert Itzkow says that the nuns are not being very neighborly. In speaking with WMAQ-TV he states “We spent an awful lot of money to make sure that this kind of thing would not occur,”… “The whole thing is just a question of `we don’t like you; you don’t conform to our religious beliefs.”‘
Itzkow stated the club’s dancers “aren’t monsters. They’re daughters; they’re mothers, and some of them are Catholics too.”
The National Cathedral in Washington D.C. is to begin performing same-sex marriage ceremonies. The District of Columbia, and the neighbouring state of Maryland, both legalised same-sex marriage last year.
The National Cathedral has a long and illustrious history. Hosting inaugural services and funerals for Presidents. It was also the place Martin Luther King gave his final sermon.
The Cathedral is part of the Episcopalian church. The bishop of Washington DC, the Rt Rev Mariann Edgar Budde, decided in December to allow churches within the diocese to perform same-sex marriages if they wished.
The Dean of the National Cathedral the Very Rev Gary Hall, said he believes allowing same-sex marriages reflects the diversity found in God’s word.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Hall said, “I read the Bible as seriously as fundamentalists do… and my reading of the Bible leads me to want to do this because I think it’s being faithful to the kind of community that Jesus would have us be.”
In theory ceremonies could take place immediately, however it is likely the first marriages will take place within the next 6-12 months, due to the schedule of the Cathedral and the church’s requirement that couples take part in their pre-marriage counselling course.

A Phoenix-area pastor is in jail after his home was raided because he was violating an occupancy law by conducting private Bible studies in his home, the Examiner reported.
Pastor Michael Salmon, an ordained minister who lives with his family in the Phoenix area, has led a Bible-study gathering of 15-20 people at his 4.5 acre property since 2005.
Police raided his home on July 6. In 2007, Salmon received a notice from the City of Phoenix that Bible studies are not permitted in a residence unless the property is converted to an A3 occupancy, which allows commercial and public use, according to the Examiner.”
It came down to zoning and proper permitting. Anytime you are holding a gathering of people continuously as he does, we have concerns about people being able to exit the facility properly in case there is a fire,” Phoenix City Prosecutor Vicki Hall said, according to the Examiner.
Salmon took some steps to meet the requirements, but did not want to become a commercial entity, calling the code unconstitutional. Now he is serving 60 days in jail for “creating an unsafe building environment,” the Examiner reported. The pastor has also received a $12,180 fine for his crime and could receive probation.
Last week saw the global media giving extraordinary news coverage to a Pastor from California. Harold Camping, founder of the Family Radio Worldwide ministry, confidently asserted that the rapture would occur on Saturday May 21st, at around 6pm. Followers of Camping took to the streets with placards says, “Judgement Day May 21st… the Bible Guarantees it” Some of Camping’s followers spent their life savings to promote his “prophesy”. In the mean time atheist groups were loving the coverage, citing it as proof that Christians really are uneducated loonies. Atheists throughout America help Rapture Parties on Saturday evening, rejoicing that Camping, and the wider church had been so discredited. One enterprising atheist in Florida even seized on the opportunity to help worried pet owners: offering to collect them after they had been raptured and care for these left-behind pets, all for an upfront, non-returnable fee of $80.
However, Camping did not stop there, the judgement of the earth was to continue until October 21st when the earth will finally be destroy.
Since May 21st has come and gone, and there are no reports of Christian’s being taken from earth to be with the Lord, Camping has held up his hands and admitted- he got it wrong! (Well kind of, May 21st marked the spiritual beginnings of Judgement.) And the real rapture has been rescheduled for October 21st, on the same day the earth will be engulfed by a massive ball of fire.
As the world wide media reported on Camping, and the world mocked, what damage does these Pastors do to the body of Christ? Will the world listen to true Prophets of God, when they have correct revelation and prophesy?
Jesus never taught us to focus on rapture, he gave us a mission to fulfil, and that involves entering into the anointing of God, and ruling and reigning with Christ over all the works of the devil.
