Dalai Lama to Release First Album

Next month the Dalai Lama will release his first album. The album will be a collection of his mantras and teachings set to music. The project was the brain child of musician Junelle Kunin, herself a practising Buddhist.

“I’d never heard him speak like this. He really was so excited … he actually proceeded to explain to me how important music is,” Kunin said. “He leaned forward and his eyes were sparkling, and his fingers were rubbing together and he (talked) about how music can help people in a way that he can’t; it can transcend differences and return us to our true nature and our good heartedness.”

Dalai Lama Sorry Comments that a Female Successor Would Need to be Attractive

In a recent interview, with the BBC, the 84 year old Dalai Lama commented that if his successor were female she would have to be “attractive”. After receiving criticism for the remarks he apologised.

In the interview he also discussed the refugee crisis in Europe, and voiced his feelings about US President Donald Trump, saying that  his presidency was marred by a “lack of moral principle.” The Dalai Lama has met every US President since George H.W. Bush, and said he would be open to meet the President, but had never been asked.

HUGE SNAKEHEAD SYMBOLIZES INVASIVE-SPECIES PROBLEM IN FLORIDA | MCCLATCHY- DALAI LAMA INVOLVEMENT?

“We knew right away,” said Gestring, biological administrator of the FWC’s non-native fish research lab in Boca Raton. “It was definitely the largest one we have ever collected.”

The snakehead has caused considerable concern outside Florida, where the discovery of a close cousin to the bullseye, the Northern snakehead, spawning in a Maryland pond in 2002, triggered a media feeding frenzy akin to the one surrounding the Burmese python in the Everglades.

Scientists fear that snakeheads, predators that will eat just about anything and are generally larger than most native freshwater fish, could take a big bite out of local populations if they spread unchecked. The fish’s freakier attributes added to the curiosity. Much like the infamous walking catfish touted as a scourge of the Everglades in the 1960s, snakeheads can survive out of water for several days. And like the catfish, a few species purportedly can wiggle across short distances on land on their fins.

” released by aquarium owners…Asian breeders…” probably not…

Probably released by the Dahli Llama and Buddhist monks who asked for and received permission to ” practice their beliefs “. In a pre-announced plan and over a few years, they visited every headway of every major river and lake in the US, chanting over the headwaters at lakes and rivers and shores in a language Americans didn’t understand yet smiled approval over in the many photographed accounts in newspapers. Wisdom?

These men released into the waters, objects; symbols- live and dead, which they ” brought with them and had prayed over ” that their chants and live symbols would ” travel the waterways of America and enter and live in all waters here.”

And so they did.

Similar work of Buddhists covered Central Park in NYC a few years ago; colorful banners were placed throughout the park as ” a work of art “. When the passive display of ” art ” became interactive, the monks began to chant in unison, appearing red robed under hundreds of yellow-gold banner-flags atop high poles.

When the chanting and horn blowing began, which released predetermined notes in a range believed by Buddhists to worship and reach the dead. It was a success. All birds and creeping things left the park. Dogs on leashes lowered to the ground, some howling. It was reported as an unexplainable coincidence.

DALAI LAMA – DELHI GANG RAPISTS SHOULD NOT BE EXECUTED

The Dalai Lama, visiting the Jaipur region near New Delhi in India, has asked that mercy be shown in the case of the men accused of last month’s brutal gang rape and murder of a woman on a bus in New Delhi.

The Tibetan leader has been a steadfast opponent of the death penalty, which contradicts the Buddhist philosophy of nonviolence.

In July 2011, the Dalai Lama, then 76 years old, traveled to Chicago, where he praised Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn for abolishing the death penalty in his state.

The Delhi rape case has sparked debate over the Indian legal system, and public anger has been directed at officials in a city informally christened India’s “rape capital,” according to Reuters.

Dalai Lama to speak at Lincoln Center- NYC October 21

The Kalmyk Three Jewels Foundation and The Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey announced that the Fourteenth Dalai Lama will present a teaching in New York City on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

The Dalai Lama will speak on the “Essence of Buddhism” at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, 10 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY. The event will be open to the public, and tickets will go on sale later this year.

The Dalai Lama has spread his message of non-violence, tolerance, compassion and wisdom around the world in over 62 countries and across 6 continents. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989, the Dalai Lama has received over 84 humanitarian commendations including the Congressional Medal of Honor in 2007, and most recently the 2012 Templeton prize from the John Templeton Foundation, London, England. He has written more than 72 books.

The Kalmyk Three Jewels Foundation and The Tibetan Community of New York and New Jersey represent two distinct, cultural heritages that share a common spiritual tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, of which the Dalai Lama is considered the supreme head.

The Dalai Lama recognizes both the Kalmyk and Tibetan communities in the United States and celebrates their religious freedoms here and we appreciate the opportunity to pray for the same right for all people in the world.

Kalmyks, whose ancestors come from the Kalmyk Republic in the northwest corner of the Caspian Sea, are largely settled in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania metropolitan areas. The Kalmyk Three Jewels Foundation, a Section 501c3 organization, was founded in 2009 to help maintain and strengthen Kalmyk culture, language and traditions in the United States and around the world.

October 11th Debates – Medical Issues Take Center Stage

On October 11th, while Vice President Biden and Vice Presidential Candidate Ryan are preparing to debate serious US issues, in Kentucky, another statesman – the Dalai Lama from Tibet, will be visiting neighboring state Virginia at the joint invitation of The Foundation for American Heritage Voices (their Tibetan American Cultural Division), the Tibetan Association of Charlottesville, the UMA Institute for Tibetan Studies, and the City of Charlottesville.

The Dalai Lama will be speaking on “Compassionate Care in 21st Century Medicine” and “Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World.” His choice of topics are very poignant considering the current debates around Obamacare.

The city of Charlottesville is also headquarters to the National Ground Intelligence Center (the security command for the US Army), GE Intelligent Platforms (including Aerospace, Defense/Military, and Communication Systems), and SNL Financial LC (a provider of breaking news, financial data and expert analysis on business sectors critical to the global economy).

While there, Charlottesville’s Mayor will be presenting the Dalai Lama with the distinguished Key to the City, giving him freedom of the city status.
