President Joe Biden promised to sign a law preventing the city of Washington D.C. from overhauling its crime and voting laws.
The Washington, D.C., city council passed a bill to overhaul the city’s criminal code, and another one allowing non-citizens to vote in local elections. But the House of Representatives passed two resolutions blocking those bills from becoming law, and the Senate is expected to vote on them as early as next week. Biden said Thursday that he would sign the bills if passed.

A group of House Democrats on Tuesday introduced a bill that would place term limits on current and new Supreme Court justices.
The bill, “Supreme Court Tenure Establishment and Retirement Modernization (TERM) Act,” was introduced by Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., and seeks to amend federal law, placing an 18-year limit on Supreme Court justices while on the bench.

CNN’s Don Lemon has said that the rioting that followed the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Kenosha, Wis has to stop, because it is helping President Trump.
“The rioting has to stop,” Lemon said. “It’s showing up in the polling. It’s showing up in focus groups. It is the only thing right now that is sticking.”
The protests following the shooting of Blake has sparked violent riots in Kenosha, and has seen property destroyed and people injured.

In a new Gallup poll 70% of democrats said some form of socialism would be good for America.
However when compared to the American electorate as a whole 51% said it would be bad for the nation. When Republicans were asked 84% of respondents said socialism would be bad for the country.
Socialist views are taking a stronger place in the politics of newly elected democrats such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in a way not seen in the old guard of the party.
