Oregon Becomes First State to Decriminalize Hard Drugs

Oregon has voted to decriminalize hard drugs like Heroin and Cocaine. People will no longer face trial or get a criminal record if found with small amounts of these drugs. Furthermore, five other  states legalized marijuana for adults.

People now found in possession of these drugs will receive a fine, and  be placed on a drug rehabilitation program, funded by the legal sales of marijuana.

DEADLY SHOOTING AT OREGON MALL

A masked gun man wearing camouflage opened fire in a busy shopping mall in Portland, Oregon, killing two before turning the gun on himself.

The mall was busy with Christmas shoppers, witnesses say he fired around 60 shots. Another woman was shot, and is recovering in hospital.

Police believe they have identified the gun man, but have not yet released details. Witnessed described the man as wearing what appeared to be, white body armour.

20 States filed Petitions to Leave the United States Union and Start own government.

From states across the country, Americans have filed petitions on the White House Web site seeking to secede from the union and form new state governments.

Petitions have been filed for Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

White House will respond to any petition that receives 25,000 or more signatures within 30 days.

The petitions from Louisiana and Texas, however, are approaching the threshold for a response.
