LONDON STABBING – A TERRORIST INCIDENT?

Last Wednesday, the UK government voted to join the USA and France, to fly bombing raids over Syria in the fight against ISIS and terrorism.  They began on Friday bombing the oil fields under ISIS control, a key source of terrorist funding.

On Saturday, London saw its first terrorist incident since the cold bloodied murder of soldier Lee Rigby, in May 2013, using knives.

A man attacked and stabbed 3 passers-by, in a busy London Underground station at 7pm last night.  He was heard shouting “this spilt blood is for Syria”, as he randomly attacked people in the ticket hall at Leytonstone Underground station in the east end of London.

The man was quickly tasered by police and immediately handcuffed on the ground and taken into custody.  The crowd told the man to put the knife down and one member of the public said “you ain’t no muslim bruv”; a phrase which has already gone viral on social media.

The area is now cordoned off while police and the anti-terrorist squads investigate further.

Leytonstone is today an area of mixed economic,  social  and migrant groups living among the tough London “East Enders”; alongside the wealthy, and the trend setters who live nearby.  An East End, which in the 60’s and 70’s was ‘run’ very much by “Godfather” style gangs.

Leytonstone also has a surprising local celebrity.  Alfred Hitchcock, the famous 1950’s suspense thriller film director, was born in Leytonstone.   His famous psychotic films are depicted in stark reality in mosaics on the walls of the tunnels leading to the ticket hall, where 3 people were stabbed yesterday at Leytonstone Underground station.
