US identifies Coptic Christian man behind anti-Islam film – USA – FRANCE 24.

It is believed the man behind the film that has sparked protests across the Muslim world is an Egyptian ‘Coptic’ Christian living in California. He has been named as Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, and is currently on probation after being convicted of bank fraud.

It is thought Sam Becile, who was initially thought to be behind the movie is the persona Nakoula used. Initial reports said that Sam Becile was an Israeli Jew living in California, but Israel had no records of him.

  1. I have friends who are Coptic and man are they depressed. They have for years been suppressed by the muslim majority and it is only getting worse. Under President Hosni Mubarak, there was atleast some sense of safety, all of which is tossed out the window with the rise to power to the Muslim Brotherhood’s President Morsi.

There are conflicting rumours that this movie was funded by the Jews. It is funny that in the Arab world, the default response for any problem is “The Joos did this”!!!

The Copts are among the oldest surviving Christian communities in the middle east. I even heard someone once say that Copts were the original ethnic Egyptians from the time of the pharos, while the muslims are actually Arabs who moved in after the rise of Islam in the 7th century- not a 100% sure if that is true.
Copts have had to maintain ‘dhimmi’ status ever since, a sort of Islamic caste system where non-muslims are given inferior rights and made to pay an ‘infidel-tax’ for the right to live. Today they still make up 8-10% of Egypts population, but this is rapidly declining as more Islam drives them to immigrate out to escape persecution. Seems like all over muslim dominated regions, the tactic is to harass the non-believers to the point of forcing them to flee the country.

I just saw the trailer, yes it is offensive as Mohammad is made to look like a bafoon, however a lot what is shown in the film about his womanizing and killing of the Kaafir (infidels) is Quarincally accurate.

  2. Ultra liberal leftist and chief Obama supporter, CNN’s own Fareed Zakaria had some surprising comments here:- http://globalpublicsquare.blogs.cnn.com/2012/09/14/qa-what-the-mideast-protests-reveal/?hpt=hp_t2

I will quote some excerpts here in case the link is invalid later:-

-I think that that has to be separated from the real issue, and the real issue is a level of extremism in some Arab and Muslim societies that is worrisome.

-And, as for President Obama needing to apologize, I think it’s absurd. It’s ludicrous. I think what we are all waiting to hear is a proper apology from Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy, who is the one figure in all of this that has been most disappointing.

-In the Egyptian case, one has to ask, are they actually encouraging a certain degree of extremism?

-The person who made this movie is crude, is bigoted and is a buffoon, but in the United States of America, we do not shut down or jail people who are crude and vulgar and bigoted.

-But I think at the end of the day, the West is in the right here. The United States is in the right. It is entirely inappropriate under any circumstances to use violence as a response to freedom of speech.

  3. Shane, what do you have against liberals and Obama anyway. He has reached out the Muslim world and improved our relationship with them tremendously. Much more than I can say for Bush. Stop being such a hate Monger.

  4. Trevor, how interesting that you bless Obama and curse Bush in the same breadth. Your kind was rooting for Osama over Bush during Americas darkest hour.

The right answer to this stupidity is the latest mantra being used by the Muslims themselves: Obama, Obama, we are all Osama!
