Desperate to empty the Guantanamo Bay prison by the end of his term, Obama quietly is giving “get out of jail free” cards for the flimsiest of excuses.

One al Qaeda suspect captured in Afghanistan is considered reformed because he took up yoga and read a biography of the Dalai Lama. Another is eligible for release because of his “positive attitude.”

And one longtime detainee, a former bodyguard for Osama bin Laden, is now harmless because he’s going to start a “milk and honey farm.”

The Periodic Review Board already helped clear 78 of the remaining 149 prisoners for release, documents show, and has scheduled more hearings for this summer.

Many of these men were dubbed “forever prisoners” because of the threat they posed to the US — with intelligence officials warning that, if free, they would return to the jihad to kill Americans.

When Obama security adviser John Brennan was sworn into office as chief of the Central Intelligence Agency, he put his hand not on a Bible, but on a copy of the Constitution – before it included the Bill of Rights.

The White House said of the controversial appointee, whose position in office was filibustered by Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul this week for nearly 13 hours, “Brennan was sworn in with his hand on an original draft of the Constitution, dating from 1787, which has George Washington’s personal handwriting and annotations on it.”

A report in the Weekly Standard said Vice President Joe Biden performed the ceremony in the White House Roosevelt Room.
The report also included an update from the emptywheel.net blog, which noted the absence of the Bill of Rights.

“When Brennan vowed to protect and defend the Constitution, he was swearing on one that did not include the First, Fourth, Fifth, or Sixth Amendments – or any of the other amendments now included in our Constitution,” the report said. “The Bill of Rights did not become part of our Constitution until 1791, four years after the Constitution that Brennan took his oath on.”

Wrote the blogger, “These vows always carry a great deal of symbolism. And whether he meant to invoke this symbolism or not, the moment at which Brennan took over the CIA happened to exclude (in symbolic form, though presumably not legally) the key limits on governmental power that protect American citizens.”

Olivier Knox, at Yahoo.com, pointed out that symbolism was part of the event.

“Hours after CIA Director John Brennan took the oath of office – behind closed doors, far away from the press, perhaps befitting his status as America’s top spy – the White House took pains to emphasize the symbolism,” he wrote.

“‘There’s one piece of this that I wanted to note for you,’ spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters at their daily briefing. ‘Director Brennan was sworn in with his hand on an original draft of the Constitution that had George Washington’s personal handwriting and annotations on it, dating from 1787.’”

The report said Earnest confirmed Brennan had asked for a document from the National Archives “because he wanted to reaffirm his commitment to the rule of law as he took the oath of office.”

Knox also wrote about the absence of the Bill of Rights in the document.

“That means: No freedom of speech and of the press, no right to bear arms, no Fourth Amendment ban on ‘unreasonable searches and seizures,’ and no right to a jury trial,” the report said.

Paul had been filibustering Brennan’s nomination because the Obama administration had made statements that the president might have the authority to order lethal drone strikes on Americans on U.S. soil. Brennan worked with Obama’s overseas drone program, which has killed hundreds, while security adviser.

Attorney General Eric Holder told Paul in response to a question from the senator that the U.S. never has carried out a drone strike against a U.S. citizen on American soil and it would be “unlikely.”

However, Holder also said he could not rule it out entirely.

“It is possible, I suppose, to imagine an extraordinary circumstance in which it would be necessary and appropriate under the Constitution and applicable laws of the United States for the president to authorize the military to use lethal force within the territory of the United States,” Holder’s letter said.

He confirmed Obama “has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a drone strike, against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and without trial.”

In the later letter to Paul, after the filibuster, Holder said, “It has come to my attention that you have now asked an additional question: ‘Does the president have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil?’ The answer to that question is no.”

As WND reported, former FBI Islam expert John Guandolo has long warned that the federal government is being infiltrated by members of the radical Muslim Brotherhood. But Guandolo now warns that by appointing Brennan to CIA director, Obama has not only chosen a man “naïve” to these infiltrations, but also picked a candidate who is himself a Muslim.

“Mr. Brennan did convert to Islam when he served in an official capacity on the behalf of the United States in Saudi Arabia,” Guandolo told interviewer and radio host Tom Trento.

“That fact alone is not what is most disturbing,” Guandolo continued. “His conversion to Islam was the culmination of a counterintelligence operation against him to recruit him. The fact that foreign intelligence service operatives recruited Mr. Brennan when he was in a very sensitive and senior U.S. government position in a foreign country means that he either [is] a traitor … [or] he has the inability to discern and understand how to walk in those kinds of environments, which makes him completely unfit to the be the director of Central Intelligence.”

Two Las Vegas police officers were killed Sunday in what appears to be a politically motivated ambush in a pizza restaurant that spilled over to a nearby Wal-Mart, where the two shooters committed suicide after killing a woman in the store.

Details are sketchy, but Metropolitan Police Department sources close to the investigation say the shooters shouted that “this is the start of a revolution” before opening fire on the officers, and draped their bodies with cloth showing a Revolutionary War-era flag. Investigators have also found paraphernalia associated with white supremacists

A child was killed and seven other people hospitalized, including two children in critical condition, after a crash on the 10 Freeway in Santa Monica that temporarily blocking all lanes of the busy interstate Friday afternoon.

A SigAlert was issued by CHP at 1:10 p.m. for the westbound Freeway at the McClure Tunnel, just before the roadway turns into the Pacific Coast Highway.

The child died after being transported from the scene, California Highway Patrol Officer Pete Bishop said, but he could not provide details on the nature of the collision.

Two juveniles were in critical condition and five others were hospitalized with moderate injuries, according to Robin Gee, a spokeswoman for the city of Santa Monica.

All of the injured and the child that died were traveling in a minivan on their way to Las Vegas for vacation, officials on scene said.

No other information about the victims was released.

Along with a semi truck and a dump truck, the minivan remained at the scene of the crash investigation inside the McClure Tunnel several hours after the collision. They were removed just before 6 p.m., when Santa Monica firefighters were working with Caltrans to clean up a small diesel spill on the scene, according to a tweet from the city.

Investigators were working to determine what caused the crash, and details about the collision and the victims’ conditions remained foggy in the early evening.

Eastbound lanes had reopened, the city of Santa Monica said on Twitter at about 2:45 p.m. Westbound lanes were expected to remain closed for several more hours, according to CHP officials on scene.

A semi truck hauling sheet rock was jackknifed in lanes at about 12:30 p.m., according to a description on the California Highway Patrol’s traffic incident website that was later removed.

“The westbound 10 Freeway is closed at Lincoln Boulevard due to a major traffic incident,” Santa Monica Police Department stated on Facebook. “Please adjust your travel plans accordingly.”

Traffic was diverted off the westbound freeway at Lincoln Boulevard, and off the southbound PCH at the California Incline, the CHP said on the Twitter.

Europe’s struggle to recover from the recent financial crisis has been well documented, but some of its countries could be about to get a much-needed boost – from sex, drugs and other illegal activities.

Efforts by the European Union (EU) to harmonize how countries measure their economic output will see parts of the shadow economy – or black market – included in gross domestic product (GDP) calculations. This overhaul of the region’s national accounts, which comes into force in September 2014, will see prostitution and the sale of illegal drugs included in the GDP of all European member states.

The controversial move looks set to boost the economies of some EU member states – on paper at least.
On Thursday, the U.K.’s Office for National Statistics said the inclusion of certain illegal activities – such as prostitution, and the importation, manufacturing and consumption of drugs – would add around £10 billion ($16.75 billion), or around 0.7 percent, to annual economic output.

Back in August of 2013 there was a release of 5 Guantanamo detainees as a good will gesture to the Taliban. In other words, they got five of their people back and we got the right to open peace talks with them. Do you find that the least bit submissive? It was not widely reported, because compared to the news of that time it seemed relatively insignificant.
I had somewhat forgotten about this release and stumbled upon it by accident in our site archives. But in light of the Obama Administration trading five very dangerous Taliban leaders for a traitorous American deserter, Bowe Bergdahl, who once told his father that he was ashamed to be an American, I think this is very important.

Whether it supports the view of many, that Obama is a secret Muslim and terrorist sympathizer, or if it just proves that he is an incompetent idiot, the math is pretty clear. We released ten Taliban terrorists and got nothing but a liability in return.

Ynetnews.com reports that “a top U.S. official said the prisoners were released under the condition that they will not engage in any violent activity.”
The terror activity of those released is not in question. Rather, their release is intended as a gesture to get peace talks rolling between the U.S., Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

Although this release is a stark departure from the standing U.S. policy of “zero tolerance [of] negotiations with terrorists and releasing of prisoners,” Obama’s State Department has may have found a loophole via their reluctance to define the Taliban as a terror group as of late.

One thing is for certain. We have given a lot more away then we are getting back. Again, whether this makes Obama a complicit Muslim or simply a blithering idiot is open for debate. But my opinion is that his track record will clearly show that Obama is no idiot and outside of the United States people, and especially people in the Muslim world, tend to understand exactly who Barack Obama is.
