Christian’s the Most Persecuted Religious Group on Earth

A report ordered by the UK Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt has concluded that Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world.

The evidence shows that Christian persecution is growing across the globe not only geographically but also  in its severity; and in some parts of the Middle East it is reaching “genocidal levels”. Observers are concerned that persecution threatens to wipe out Christianity in parts of the Middle-East altogether.

California’s “Earthquake Pause” is Leaving Scientists Baffled.

We all grew up being told in school how California is along a major fault line, and that to expect to see a major earthquake there sometime, anytime, soon. Well, scientists are being left baffled by why they have not seen any major ground-rupturing quakes in the region in 100-years.

The computer models they have run for the fault lines in the region say there is only a 0.3% chance of this happening. As a result geophysicists are wondering if something else is causing the “earthquake pause”.

Small NYC homeowners are facing hefty fines for short-term rentals The crackdown has swept up one- and two-family homes

Small homeowners swept up in the city’s aggressive enforcement of short-term rentals, like Airbnb, are getting hit with steep fines.

Owners of one- and two-family homes in Brooklyn have been issued more than $2.1 million in fines under the de Blasio administration, The City reported. That’s 27 percent of the total $7.8 million in fines issued in the borough during that period.

Homeowners in Queens paid a larger share: $1.7 million in penalties made up 39 percent of the borough’s total $4.3 million. In Manhattan, where one- and two-family homes are harder to come by, they made up less than 1 percent of the $16.2 million in fines issued for illegal rentals since 2014.

Dian Killian is among the homeowners who’ve been penalized. She told The City she had researched the legality of renting out her unit in Bedford-Stuyvesant. State laws prohibiting rentals of less than 30 days do not apply to one- and two-family homes.

Still, she was approached by inspectors and hit with four buildings violations by the Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement. Killian eventually paid more than $5,000 in fines — which she said amounted to about three months of rentals.

Newly elected Public Advocate Jumaane Williams said the proportion of fines hitting small homeowners contradicts what the administration has said about enforcement targeting the more egregious offenders. In July 2018, Council Speaker Corey Johnson said city inspectors “are really trying to go after the really bad actors that have entire buildings or multiple apartments in a building.”

Mayor Bill de Blasio previously told NY1 that “my problem is when a building is turned into a de facto hotel. My problem is when an apartment is rented out effectively year round.”

Both officials have sought tighter regulation.

“We were clear our intent is not to go after one- and two-family homeowners,” Williams told The City. “We thought we had a partnership with the city. But the administration looks like they’ve opened up a can of wild, wild west whoop-ass on them.”

City officials say their enforcement is complaint-driven, and that there are cases where one- and two-family homes had been turned into de facto boarding houses or where Airbnb had struggled to self-police violations of the rules. [The City] — Meenal Vamburkar

Assyrian Warns Americans to Visit Ilhan Omar’s District: It’s Not America

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Middle Eastern Women’s Coalition (MEWC) director Nahren Anweya on Wednesday warned Americans who visit Minnesota’s 5th district, Rep. Ilhan Omar’s district, the 2016 “terrorist recruitment capital of the country.”

“You won’t even think you’re in America,” she said of the district that elected Ilhan Omar.

…she has cousins and family members “called whores for showing” part of the back of the arm in Iraq, “a country where one day they were wearing mini skirts.”

“It is truly because of people like [Rep.] Ilhan [Omar], when the government is infiltrated and it starts this way because it happened in Iraq and it happened against us,” she went on. “Iraq used to be a country where Jews lived freely, where Assyrian Christians lived freely, where even Armenians were there, and even moderate Muslims lived until sharia law took place and everyone was affected.”

“Americans truly need to understand that this will affect you one day if you don’t make a change right now,” she said of sharia, adding she knows the early signs of genocide.

Anweya asked how the House of Representatives passed 393-0, “Resolution 75 recognizing the ongoing genocide of Christians and other religious minorities under ISIS” in March 2016 but now support representatives like Ilhan Omar. She cited Omar’s request to a judge for a lighter sentence for a terrorist supporter.

“We are here because of God, to give you a warning as Americans,” said Anweya. “We are here to tell you this is coming here, and it is here and it will affect you. It will affect everyone.”

“You will see your daughters get beheaded,” she went on. Anweya said she interviewed hundreds of families of all religions affected in the genocide in Iraq who “watched family members get executed right in front of them and that’s when reality hit them and they knew it was too late and that sharia law had taken full control of that country.”

“If you don’t know, I highly advise you to take a trip to Minnesota’s 5th district and you will see what’s happening,” Anweya suggested. “You won’t even think you’re in America.”

Greeks Withdraw $1 Billion a Day Ahead of Vote

Reuters | June 13, 2012 | 07:01 AM EDT

Greeks pulled their cash out of the banks and stocked up with food ahead of a cliffhanger election on Sunday that many fear will result in the country being forced out of the euro.

Bankers said up to 800 million euros ($1 billion) were leaving major banks daily and retailers said some of the money was being used to buy pasta and canned goods, as fears of returning to the drachma were fanned by rumors that a radical leftist leader may win the election.

The last published opinion polls showed the conservative New Democracy party, which backs the 130 billion euro ($160 billion) bailout that is keeping Greece afloat, running neck and neck with the leftist Syriza party, which wants to cancel the rescue deal.

As the election approaches, publishing polls is now legally banned and in the ensuing information vacuum, party officials have been leaking contradictory “secret polls”.

On Tuesday, one rumor making the rounds was that Syriza was leading by a wide margin.

“This is nonsense,” one reputable Greek pollster said on condition of anonymity. “Our polls show the picture has not changed much since the last polls were published. Parties may be leaking these numbers on purpose to boost their standing.”
