Officer who shot gang member hailed as hero, yet community protests

San Francisco.  Oliver Barcenas, a known Norteno gang member who is currently on parole for a recent gang related shooting, was wounded by a policeman after he raised a TEC-9 gun at the same officer.

According to investigators, Barcenas was enroute for a revenge gang killing when he was stopped and wounded by San Francisco Police.

According to Police Chief Greg Suhr “These officers on Thursday night were exactly where they were supposed to be, doing exactly what they were asked to do,”.

However, this incident has sparked two nights of protests in the Mission district which included vandalism.

  1. So what? It is a free country and we have a right to protest. The police are not always right.

  2. Regardless of who he is, the cop shot him first and he did not fire back, so how is this justified? The police will always make themselves look like the innocent ones, the heros, when in reality its all nothing but a crooked scheme. They will always portray the “suspect” as a horrible bad person in order for the police to keep their reputation as the heros. As for the people who stood up for him during the protest, round of applause to you, because your standing up for an individual who got shot by a police officer 3 times from behind, so you tell me how could he shoot at the officer if he was running away? I hope oliver wins this case, because the judiciary systems needs to see how they are not always right.
