One year after its ruling to erase abortion rights, the conservative-dominated Supreme Court has underscored its determination to push society sharply to the right by scrapping long-established progressive policies.
In three emphatic rulings this week the court banned universities from giving minorities priority in admissions; said some business owners can refuse to serve gay couples on religious grounds; and struck down President Joe Biden’s plan to cancel student debt.
Gay rights advocates in San Francisco are regrouping to broaden their fight. They seek to ban therapy, focused on converting teens with feelings of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender issues to straight feelings, into other regions and States.
California is the first State in the nation to sign this kind of bill into law. California Governor Jerry Brown has labelled this kind of therapy as “quackery” with “no basis in science or medicine”.
Currently this ban applies only to therapists who are licensed and not to ministers or other lay people.
Some Christian legal groups are planning on fighting this in federal court.
The Catholic Church in France will revive an old tradition next week: “Prayer for France” will be read out in churches across the country.
The mobilization of churches to pray across France, is in response to President Francois Hollande’s desire to legilise same-sex marriage and allow gay couples to adopt. Prayer for France will be attacking the governments proposed changes to the law. The church’s plans have angered gay rights groups in France.
The “Prayer for France” used to be an annual event, started by King Louis XIII, but died out after World War II. Louis XIII made August 15th a day for the churches across the country to pray for the good of France.
Google, of Mountain View, California is on a worldwide campaign to “change the hearts and minds” in support of gay rights.
Google calls it “Legalize Love” and they announced it at a Global Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender (LGBT) Workplace Summit recently in London. Anna Peirana who is from 429 Magazine, first reported this mission. She describes it as an effort to legalize gay marriage. Google expands this and states their mission is broader and is meant to include every country in its operations. Mark Palmer-Edgecumbe states “It is obviously a very ambitious piece of work”.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother about current events. The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.. The Grandmother replied, “Well, let me think a minute, I was born before: ‘ television ‘ penicillin ‘ polio shots ‘ frozen foods ‘ Xerox ‘ contact lenses ‘ Frisbee s and ‘ the pill There were no: ‘ credit cards ‘ laser beams or ‘ ball-point pens Man had not invented: ‘ pantyhose ‘ air conditioners ‘ dishwashers ‘ clothes dryers ‘ and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and ‘ man hadn’t yet walked on the moon Your Grandfather and I got married first, .. ….. … and then lived together.. Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, “Sir”. And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, “Sir.” We were before gay-rights, computer- dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy. Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense. We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions. Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege… We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent. Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins. Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started. Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums. We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CD’s, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings. We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President’s speeches on our radios. And I don’t ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey. If you saw anything with ‘Made in Japan’ on it, it was junk The term ‘making out’ referred to how you did on your school exam…. Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, and instant coffee were unheard of. We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents. Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel. And if you didn’t want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards. You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, . .. . but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon. In my day: ‘ “grass” was mowed, ‘ “coke” was a cold drink, ‘ “pot” was something your mother cooked in and ‘ “rock music” was your grandmother’s lullaby. ‘ “Aids” were helpers in the Principal’s office, ‘ “chip” meant a piece of wood, ‘ “hardware” was found in a hardware store and ‘ “software” wasn’t even a word. And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby. No wonder people call us “old and confused” and say there is a generation gap. How old do you think I am? I bet you have this old lady in mind….you are in for a shock! Read on to see — pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time. Are you ready ????? This woman would be only 58 years old.
Caiden Cowger is a 14 year oldwith his own internet radio show. In a recent broadcast he said “Obama is making kids gay”. His show has now been removed from two internet radio hosting sites, under “hate-speech” rules.
In the program Cowger tells how he believes homosexuality is “perverted” and that the it is becoming increasingly hard to tell other teenagers the gospel, if they are gay. He tells about a boy in his school who claims he has bullied after a girl witnessed to him. The boy’s mother, Rhonda Mangus, (she is a former gay news feature editor for Now Public Media) led the campaign to have Cowger’s program removed from Speaker internet radio. She claimed the program breached the terms of usage policy, which state: “unlawful, defamatory, libellous, slanderous, threatening, pornographic, obscene, vulgar, harassing, harmful, hateful, abusive, racially or ethnically offensive or is otherwise inappropriate.”
There has been some confusion over Cowger’s youtube video of the program. Some saying that YouTube removed the program under it’s hate-speech policies. However, Cowger dismisses this, saying his account was hacked and he has had to set up a new YouTube channel.
However, listening to Cowger’s program he merely states his opinion. His comments may upset and offend a lot of people. But states he is against “gay bullying”, and at no point does he endorse abuse against homosexual teens. The problem with the usage policy is it is subjective. What is offensive to one person, is not to another; what one person deems “inappropriate” is different from anthers. The Bible, the Koran, is offensive to some people. Are we going to ban the Bible, for fear of offending?
What should be of greater concern, than a 14 year old boy saying he thinks “Obama is making kids gay”. Is that the liberal left media is trying to shut him down. Right or wrong what about free speech?
The UN prides itself on upholding the human rights of the poor, oppressed, and marginalised of the world. In the Charter of the UN, they lay out their purpose as that of promoting world peace, freedom of religion, freedom from all forms of discrimination, the promotion of democracy and harmony across nations.
If only it were that simple! Often the “rights” of one group can be in opposition to the “rights” of another. Take abortion as an example. In 1981 the UN passed the “Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Intolerance and Discrimination Based on Religion or Belief” They have also passed similar declarations on woman’s rights. Now, Anand Grover, UN Special Rapporteur for Health, has said that it is the right of all women to be able to legally access abortion facilities within their country: “Criminal laws penalising and restricting induced abortion are the paradigmatic examples of impermissible barriers to the realisation of women’s right to health and must be eliminated. These laws infringe upon women’s dignity and autonomy by severely restricting decision-making by women in respect of their sexual and reproductive health.”
Also in the pipeline for the UN Human Rights Committee is a declaration to see the death penalty outlawed internationally. They are already using their power to pressurise states with death penalty laws to have a formal moratorium on the death penalty. Whatever ones personal views on these matters, do you want a group of bureaucrats sitting in Geneva, Switzerland deciding how your nation is ran?
Prophet.tv has been highlighting the importance of Switzerland in the global scheme of things. Be aware that this seemingly insignificant region of Europe has a lot of influence over what is happening globally in these days.
