Apple and Google Unite to Contact Trace Covid-19

The big tech giants Apple and Google are teaming up to help develop technology to contact users if they have been in contact with someone who has Covid-19.

Initially they hope to work with third party apps.

However, they hope the need for users to download an app will not be needed as users will be encouraged to have such a feature as standard.

They hope to use bluetooth technology to trace who a person has been in contact with, how close and for how long. This data would then determine the risk that a person could have contracted the virus.

However, many are alarmed at the privacy concerns us technology poses.

“Privacy, transparency and consent are of utmost importance in this effort and we look forward to building this functionality in consultation with interested stakeholders,” Apple and Google said in a joint statement.

“We will openly publish information about our work for others to analyse.”

President Trump said his administration needed time to consider the development.

“It’s very interesting, but a lot of people worry about it in terms of a person’s freedom,” he said during a White House press conference.

“We’re going to take… a very strong long at it, and we’ll let you know pretty soon.”

Switzerland Halts 5G Rollout Indefinitely Over Health Fears

Switzerland announced that it is halting the roll out of their 5G program indefinitely over health concerns. The European nation has one of the most advanced 5G networks in Europe with 2,000 antennas already in place to upgrade their network.

Other countries across Europe are scrambling to upgrade their networks to 5G, against the backdrop of the US and China wrangling over the use of Huawei technology. Most of Europe’s 5G infrastructure relies on Huawei technology, however the US has said this is a major security risk.

The Swiss environment agency, Bafu, who issues licences for the building of the antennae has said, it cannot yet provide universal criteria without further testing of the impact of 5G radiation.

The agency said it was “not aware of any standard worldwide” that could be used to benchmark recommendations. “Therefore Bafu will examine exposure through adaptive [5G] antennas in depth, if possible in real-world operational conditions. This work will take some time,” it said.

The Swiss Medical Association has argued that caution should be taken in the implementation of 5G technology as not enough testing has been conducted to show the affects of the radiation on the nervous system or on the risk of cancer.

China Appointed to the U.N. Human Rights Council

China has this week been appointed to the U.N. Human Rights Council. The appointment means that China will be part of the body that decides who investigates abuses in human rights.

This is despite a catalogue of human rights abuses by the Chinese authorities. And at a time when the  Chinese is showing itself to be more authoritarian.

Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch, which monitors the UN Human Rights Council and has championed the rights of victims in China, stated, “Allowing China’s oppressive and inhumane regime to choose the world investigators on freedom of speech, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances is like making a pyromaniac into the town fire chief. It’s absurd and immoral for the UN to allow China’s oppressive government a key role in selecting officials who shape international human rights standards and report on violations worldwide.”

Fox Primetime Host Trish Regan Leaves Network: Coronavirus Impeachment Scam

Trish Regan primetime  host a Fox Business Network has abruptly left the network. Her departure comes after she suggested the Chinese coronavirus could lead to another attempt to  impeach  Trump.

“We thank her for her contributions to the network over the years and wish her continued success in her future endeavors,” a Fox Business Network spokesperson said in a statement. “We will continue our reduced live primetime schedule for the foreseeable future in an effort to allocate staff resources to continuous breaking news coverage on the Coronavirus crisis.”

Regan met with criticism when she hosted a segment accusing the Democrat Party and the corporate media of carrying out a “Coronavirus Impeachment Scam.” She said to her viewers:

“We’ve reached a tipping point. The chorus of hate being leveled at the president is nearing a crescendo as Democrats blame him and only him for a virus that originated halfway around the world,…. This is yet another attempt to impeach the president.”

“Many in the liberal media using, and I mean using, coronavirus in an attempt to demonize and destroy the president,” she added.

Hundreds of CEOs Resigned in the Last Few Months, Why?

In the weeks and months leading up to the stock market crash hundreds of CEOs resigned. Fortune magazine described it as the “great CEO exodus of 2020”. CEOs sold of billions of dollars of stock in their own companies just before the share prices sky dived.

At the end of last year a record number of  1,480 CEOs left their posts. This would not be unusual during a recession, but almost unheard of during a time of financial prosperity. And although their were signs that the global economy was slowing, few would have forecast a global recession.

Furthermore in January this year an additional 219 CEOs stepped down. The Wall Street Journal commented:

Top executives at U.S.-traded companies sold a total of roughly $9.2 billion in shares of their own companies between the start of February and the end of last week, a Wall Street Journal analysis shows.

The selling saved the executives—including many in the financial industry—potential losses totaling $1.9 billion, according to the analysis, as the S&P 500 stock index plunged about 30% from its peak on Feb. 19 through the close of trading March 20.

However it was not only CEOs selling off stocks. Some members of Congress were also selling stocks just before the market went nuts…

Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California and three of her Senate colleagues reported selling off stocks worth millions of dollars in the days before the coronavirus outbreak crashed the market, according to reports.

The data is listed on a U.S. Senate website containing financial disclosures from Senate members.

U.S. Government Seeks to Use Smartphone Data to Monitor Social Distancing Compliance

The U.S. government  are reportedly considering ordering tech companies to hand over data to monitor if people are complying with social distancing guidelines during the Coronavirus pandemic.

According the NBC

Federal health officials say they could use anonymous, aggregated user data collected by the tech companies to map the spread of the virus — a practice known as “syndromic surveillance” — and prevent further infections. They could also use the data to see whether people were practicing “social distancing.”

Some sources stressed that the effort would be anonymized and that government would not have access to specific individuals’ locations. They noted that users would be required to opt-in to the effort.

The federal effort, first reported by The Washington Post, will force the tech giants to weigh their commitments to user privacy against their desire to help combat a disease that has cost thousands of human lives and upended the global economy.

Google confirmed that it is looking at how anonymous aggregated user data could be used in the fight against Covid-19. Saying they are,  “exploring ways that aggregated anonymized location information could help in the fight against COVID-19. One example could be helping health authorities determine the impact of social distancing, similar to the way we show popular restaurant times and traffic patterns in Google Maps.”

China Looking to Avoid Blame for Covid-19 Pandemic

There is clearly documented evidence that China sought to cover up the Coronavirus outbreak in it’s early days. Failing to contain the outbreak and even arresting the whistleblowers who sought to alert the world.

Some democrats where appalled when the President referred to the virus as the “China Virus” or “Wuhan virus”. Naming the Coronavirus Covid-19 the WHO has taken the spotlight off China, something Beijing is keen to see.

Despite Beijing’s failure to act, many in the West say blaming China is racism. However, not only did China fail to act, they actively censored information, and then spread misinformation by trying to blame the U.S. military for the outbreak.

After this pandemic has been brought under control and economies rebuild. Other nations need to address how they will conduct business with Beijing.
