Ex Libya Security Officer to State Department “For Me The Taliban is on the Inside…”

“For me, the Taliban is on the inside of the building”.  Eric Nordstrom, the former Libyan regional security officer for the State Department, said in his testimony on Capitol Hill on Wednesday regarding the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya.

It’s not the hardships, it’s not the gunfire, it’s not the threats. It’s dealing and fighting against the people, programs and personnel who are supposed to be supporting me… For me, the Taliban is on the inside of the building.”

Both Eric Nordstrom and Lt. Col. Andrew Wood, former head of a 16-member U.S. military team that helped protect the embassy in Tripoli, in testimony to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee described their frustrations in performing their jobs.

“We were fighting a losing battle. We couldn’t even keep what we had,” stated Wood in relation to having asked for further security forces to defend the Libyan Embassy before it was attacked on September 11, 2012.

  1. Well said.

The problem is very plain to see. There is no way at all to distinguish a moderate from a fanatic. You can’t tell who is for you or against you because it is a catch 22 situation.

The fanatics are crazy, no matter what you do, it is your fault so there is no point trying to win their minds over with money and support.

For the moderates, their loyalties are very plainly divided. They don’t like foreign infidel presence in the country and yet need us to stop the fanatics. On one hand they don’t like excess pure Islam because it encroaches on their freedoms but on the other hand don’t like infidels killing ‘Muslim’ fanatics.

To them a good infidel is worse than a bad fanatic Muslim. That is why the so called moderates in the Muslim world were angry that the Osama Bin Laden that they didn’t like never got a proper funeral when buried at sea. This is same reason that afghan soldiers in the army routinely turn on American soldiers.

There is no outwardly difference between a moderate and a fanatic, only the constant threat that a moderate infected with the Islam virus may one day without warning turn fanatic.

It is a spiritual battle folks, once infected by the spirit of Islam, the most peace loving of Muslims will harbor hatred deep within.

  2. No it is not, this is a one of rare incident. All Muslims are not bad. There are bad apples in every race and religions, lets not stereotype here.
