Democratic lawmakers on Tuesday brought legislation to both the House and the Senate which would hold gun manufacturers liable for crimes committed with their products.
The Dems hope to repeal legislation introduced in 2005 which offered protection for the gun industry.

Hollywood stars, including Beyonce, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Aniston, Jon Hamm, Julianne Moore, and Gwyneth Paltrow, have shot a movie calling for action to be taken now to end gun violence in the US. The campaign slogan is “It’s not too soon, it’s too late”.
The video begins with Jamie Foxx (the star of Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming “Django Unchained”), saying “Columbine”, then other celebrities list the other mass shootings in recent years, ending with a number of the stars saying “Newtown”.
The campaign’s proposals include requiring a background check for every potential gun buyer, banning assault weapons and guns holding more than 10 bullets, and making gun trafficking a federal crime.
In the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre President Obama has set up a multi-agency task force to look at gun laws. The NRA (National Rifle Association) have come out suggesting that armed guards be stationed in every school.
It has emerged that the mother of Adam Lanza was a gun-proud survivalist. Nancy Lanza, was part of the “prepper” movement, who believe we are about to see economic collapse in the nation. The Prepper movement encourages readiness for the collapse of society by hoarding food and weapons.
More details have also emerged about the mental state of her son Adam in the weeks running up to the deadly shooting. A friend of Mrs Lanza, said she feared she was “losing” him, “She said it was getting worse. She was having trouble reaching him,”
Nancy Lanza had five guns, three of which Adam Lanza took with him; he used one assault rifle to kill most of the victims.
The Democrats are now preparing a bill to limit access to assault rifles. The bill is likely to face stiff opposition in Congress.
The Colorado gunman planned on traveling to New York City for the premiere of “The Dark Knight Rises”, so he could shoot dead the stars of the movie and any innocent bystanders who stood in his way, it was claimed today. James Holmes had more grandiose plans than gunning down moviegoers at his local theater according to police sources, and only changed his mind at the last minute due to paranoia that police would catch him with a car-load of weaponry.
The National Enquirer reported that actors Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Anne Hathaway and Gary Oldman were Holmes original targets, with their deaths being in the very city the movie was filmed in, according to an initial police investigation.
