PORTLAND – The Dalai Lama will visit Portland in May 2013 for a series of public talks and discussions.
His Holiness, now 77, has events scheduled over the course of three days from May 9 to 11. The tentative schedule includes a public talk on Saturday, May 11 as well as a symposium and several panel discussions with spiritual, environmental and scientific leaders.
Maitripa College is hosting the visit, and several of the events are being held in conjunction with the University of Portland.

So why isn’t this news worthy?
Is it because it would embarrass those anti second amendment nuts who brag about Chicago’s tough gun laws? Is it because most of the kids who were shot and killed were minorities? Or is it because the corrupt media doesn’t want to show Chicago in a bad light? Amazingly, no Obama crocodile tears either.
For those of you too dense to get the point of this, it’s to make the point about gun laws. No matter how tough the gun laws are, the crazed, nut jobs will find a way to get them and if they so chose, use them. No draconian law can stop this, no matter how well intentioned the law is.
This is really just about leftists grabbing power from citizens and taking away their constitutional rights of self defense.
The killing is caused by the moral decay of the citizens of our country. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people!

NEW STUDY CONFIRMS ECONOMY WAS DESTROYED BY DEMOCRAT POLICIES
A new study released this week from the widely respected National Bureau of Economic Research has confirmed beyond question that the left’s race-baiting attacks on the housing market (the Community Reinvestment Act – enacted under Carter, made shockingly more aggressive under Clinton) is directly responsible for imploding the housing market and destroying the economy.
The study painstakingly sorted through failed home loans that caused the housing market collapse and identified an overwhelming connection between them and CRA mortgages.
Again, let’s review:
-President Bush went to Congress repeatedly for years warning them that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were going to destroy the economy (17 times in 2008 alone). Democrats continuously ignored him, shut down his proposals along party lines and continued raiding the institutions for campaign contributions on their way down.
-John McCain also co-sponsored urgently critical reforms that would have prevented the housing market collapse, but Democrats shut that down as well, along party lines, and even openly ridiculed anyone who suggested reforms were necessary…to protect their taxpayer-funded campaign contributions as the economy raced uncontrollably toward the cliff.
-No one was making bad loans to unqualified people until Democrats came along and threatened to drag banks into court and have them fined and branded as racists if they didn’t go along with the left’s Affirmative Action lending policies…all while federally insuring their losses. Even the New York Times warned in the late 1990s that Democrats continuing to force banks into lowering their standards would lead to this exact catastrophe.
-Obama himself is even on the record personally helping sue one lender (Citibank) into lowering its lending standards to include people from extremely poor and unstable areas, which even one of the left’s favorite blatantly partisan “fact-checkers,” Snopes, admits (while pretending to ‘set the record straight’).
-Even The New York Times admitted that there is “little evidence” of any connection between the “Republican” deregulation measures Obama blames, like the Gramm-Bleach-Liley Act (signed into law by a Democrat), and the collapse of the housing market.
WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH PLANS TO PICKET SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, INCURS WRATH OF ANONYMOUS
After prominent Westboro Baptist Church member/professional troll/mother of illegitimate son Shirley Phelps-Roper announced her group’s intention to picket Sandy Hook Elementary School “to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment,” the wrath came quickly.
An anonymous offshoot promptly launched #OpWestboro with the intention of “destroying” the church and its members.
Within hours the group began posting personal contact info and credit card numbers of WBC congregants, and hacking the church’s various online properties.
A coup de grâce of sort came with the takeover of Phelps-Roper’s personal twitter account. The hack is attributed to notorious teen hacker Cosmo the God who appears to have violated the terms of his newly minted parole in order to take part in the operation.
Meanwhile, others are attempting a less tech-savvy method of bringing down the church: Convincing the government to label WBC a hate group. A We the People petition to do just that has already amassed nearly 100,000 signatures in less than three days.

Is Adam Lanza’s reported devil worship a missing link that could help explain what motivated the Sandy Hook gunman to carry out the school house massacre?
Was Lanza part of any larger Satanic or ritualistic subculture locally or online where the murderer could have revealed his plans or could have even received support in preparing for the killings?
Although largely under-reported, Satanic subculture and so-called devil worship has been a factor in numerous other mass killings, including the recent Batman shooting massacre.
Trevor L. Todd, a former classmate of Lanza’s, told the media that Lanza worshiped the devil and had an online page dedicated to Satan.
Lanza’s worshiping page had the word “Devil” written in red, Gothic-style letters against a black background, stated Todd, the UK Daily Mail reported.
Batman, Columbine shootings and the ‘devil’
While Lanza’s reported devil worship was mentioned in several news media items, it is seemingly not being considered as a possible motive in the national debate currently centered around the role of guns, drugs, violent video games or mental illness in the shooting spree.
The theme of so-called devil worship and Satanic-style “Goth” subculture has cropped up in numerous other mass shootings, although in some cases the phenomenon may have been under-reported or entirely unreported.
One such case is the July 20th mass shooting at a Batman movie in Aurora, Colorado.
While reports do not link the shooter, James Eagan Holmes, to either devil worship or the Goth community, an overlooked factor is the Satanic themes related to the “Joker” character after which Holmes modeled himself.
Holmes, a 24-year old former PhD candidate in neuroscience, had dyed his hair red like the Joker had and told police officers that he was “the Joker,” the villain in numerous Batman movies.
It was reported that Holmes was a big fan of Batman movies, and that his apartment was decorated with Batman paraphernalia.
In various Batman movies, including the recent Dark Knight series, the Joker’s calling card, handed out by the character in multiple scenes in the different movies, is a picture of a devil.
In the 1989 Batman film, the Joker character, played by Jack Nicholson, is first recognized by Batman as the perpetrator of his parents’ murder after the Joker asks Batman, “Do you ever dance with the devil in the pale moon light?” Batman has a flashback to when his mother and father were murdered by a man who asks the same question.

The two had initially been reported to also be members of “The Trenchcoat Mafia,” an informal club within Columbine High School, but later reports emerged that such characterizations were considered incorrect.

It’s a subway rider’s worst nightmare: being pushed onto the tracks. On Monday, it happened in midtown Manhattan where, according to witnesses, one man shoved another in front of an oncoming train, which crushed the victim to death before horrified onlookers.
Police on Tuesday were still searching for the alleged pusher, who was captured on surveillance video seconds before the attack in a verbal altercation with the victim, who was identified as 58-year-old Ki-Suck Han of Queens, N.Y. The attack occurred about 12:30 p.m.
Witnesses, who included scores of people standing on the platform at the station on West 49th Street and 7th Avenue, said Han tried to scramble back onto the platform after landing on the tracks a few feet below, but he was crushed between the side of the platform and the Q train, which slammed on its brakes but could not stop in time.
One witness facing the oncoming train repeatedly snapped his camera in hopes the flash would warn the conductor early enough to stop. Others on the platform waved their hands and yelled at the conductor as Han stood up from where he had landed, faced the train then began trying to climb off the tracks as the train sped toward him.
“There was a huge gasp from all the spectators,” the man who took pictures of the incident, R. Umar Abbasi, said of the moment when he saw Han pushed, the New York Post reported. “I just started running, running, hoping that the driver could see my flash,” said Abbasi.

Lew, 57, spent three years on Wall Street working at Citigroup (C) as the chief operating officer of its alternative asset investment management unit. One of the funds Lew’s group invested in was run by John Paulson, who at the time was betting heavily against the housing markets and banks. But that’s not the part of Lew’s resume that anyone seems to remember. And it’s certainly not the important part.

10/29/2012 East Coast Possible Storm Surge from Post-Tropical Cyclone Sandy
According to the Storm Surge Exceedance Map on the National Hurricane Center’s web site, the area of Boston, MA and vicinity may get the highest water surge from Sandy. According to the map, the waves could exceed 29 feet high in some parts of the area. The possibility of a storm surge may extend from the northern North Carolina up through southern Maine.
