Protesters in Hong Kong Sing Hallelujah to the Lord

A simple hymn sung in Hong Kong’s churches has become the anthem of the protesters across the city. The protests are about new extradition laws that China want to impose on Hong Kong.

At first the Christian protestors hoped the hymn would release tensions with the police. For Christians the protests are not only political but also religious. They can see the new laws being used to limit religious freedoms they enjoy, but are not shared by the church in mainland China. Many Christians in Hong Kong have smuggled Bibles to the mainland, and the new laws could see them arrested and sent their to face trial. Hong Kong is also a safe haven for Chinese believers who have fled the persecution of the mainland.

However, the hymn has quickly been taken up by all the protestors, not only those of faith. The Hong Kong authorities have said have suspended the bill, however protestors say they will continue until the bill is scrapped entirely.

ISIS to the Christians… Kill them

ISIS to Christians… “there is nothing to give them but the sword.”

Throughout northern Iraq, Christians are hunkered down in refugee camps, trapped in the desert, or in their homes, awaiting death.

Despite the presence of Christians in Iraq and Syria for two thousand years, today they face extinction in this region.

Canon Andrew White, head of the Anglican Church in Iraq “It looks as though the end could be very near,” he told the BBC.

Last week, Christians were warned to either leave the city of Mosul and other areas under Islamic State control, or they would have to pay a tax or be put to death.

The group, Human Rights Watch, reported on July 14 that homes in Mosul were painted with red letters to indicate homes of Christians.

Those Christians who have escaped have reported being deprived of all their belongings but for their clothing.  Escaping Christians were forced to pass ISIS checkpoints at town edges who also and additionally confiscated jewelry, money, automobiles, even food and water.  As they left they were warned “don’t even dream of returning.”

ISIS / Islam is very clear on this deal.  For those who live under the rule of a fundamentalist Islamic state, the options are laid plain and simple.  Run, convert, pay a fine, or be put to death.  There will be no coexistence.

Like the Nazis only a few short years ago, ISIS is glorifying and reveling in their killing and believe with all sincerity that they are doing the work of Allah.  Nobody is immune, fathers, mothers and children are being rounded up, beaten, beheaded or otherwise killed.

CHRISTIAN PARENTS PLAN TO SUE OVER YOGA CLASSES

Parents in California plan to sue over yoga classes which are due to be introduced into schools in January.

The Encinitas Union School District plans to introduce yoga classes in all their schools after the Christmas vacation, this is despite protests from Christian parents who say their children will be indoctrinated into an Eastern Religion.

Yoga has it’s roots in Hinduism, but school officials have said there will be no chanting, prayer positions or cultural references. In an attempt to stop legal action the yoga teachers have changed the names of the positions to terms like “aeroplane” and “pancake”.

Encinitas Superintendent Timothy Baird said: “This is 21st century PE. It’s physical. It’s strength-building. It increases flexibility but it also deals with stress reduction and focusing, which kickball doesn’t do.”

The Universities of San Diego and Virginia will be studying the students to see what impact the yoga classes have on the children. The program will be given to 5000 children, starting from Kindergarten.

Christians fight for rights at work in European court – Home News – UK – The Independent

Christians fight for rights at work in European court – Home News – UK – The Independent.

Four Christians who faced disciplinary action in their respective jobs have taken their cases to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg to argue their cases.

Two of the cases involve the right to wear crosses at work, another involves a marriage counsellor who lost his job after expressing reluctance at giving sex therapy to gay couples, and the final case, a registrar who would not perform civil partnerships for same-sex couples.

The four have delivered their cases to the court, arguing their right to religious freedom is a stake. The landmark case will have consequences for future cases in the UK, and Europe.

Furthermore, a top British QC has said that Christians should, “leave their beliefs at home or get another job”. However, some Christians feel there is a different set of standards for Muslims, with employers adapting dress codes to accommodate the headscarf for female employees, for example.

The European Court is expected to give it’s verdict shortly.

Pilgrimages by church groups to see Tim Tebow

The New York Jets training camp will take place at the State University of New York at Cortland.  Preparations are being made for large crowds composed of groups of church going members coming to watch Tim Tebow practice.

“A couple months ago, I got a call from a church group, then another and I thought it was interesting, not groups we normally get calls from,” according to Jim Dempsey of the Cortland County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Right now, we have no way of knowing how many more groups will come because of Tim Tebow. But we expect a lot.”

Tim Tebow has a record of drawing massive amounts of Evangelical Christians.  Starting this next week, the Christians will follow him to the Jets camp.

US CHRISTIAN GROUP RENOUNCES HOMOSEXUALITY CURE CAMPAIGN – Telegraph

US Christian group renounces homosexuailty cure campaign – Telegraph.

The Christian organisation Exodus, who claimed it can cure homosexual lifestyles through therapy, has dropped it’s claim to be able to fully “cure” people of same-sex attraction.

In California a bill was passed last month banning reparative therapy for minors, other states are expected to follow.

If evangelical churches cannot effectively help people trapped in a lifestyle they want to change, what about using the power of the Holy Spirit to help set people free? The law leads to condemnation, …..the Spirit to life.
