Mexican boy’s eyes gouged out ‘to save the world’ – USATODAY.com

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A 5-year-old Mexican boy whose eyes were allegedly gouged out by his mother as part of a drug-fueled ritual “to save the world” is expected to live, but has been left completely blind, health authorities said Friday.

The boy, identified by authorities only as Fernando, was taken to a hospital in Mexico City after police discovered the mother clutching her eyeless son at a home in the working-class suburb of Nezahualcoyotl early Thursday.

The Mexico City Health Department said the boy lost both eyes and was suffering some leakage of cerebral fluid. He was in intensive care and was listed in guarded condition, but doctors said in a statement that such leakage normally stops by itself and that no brain surgery is planned at the moment.

The chief prosecutor for Mexico state, where Nezahualcoyotl is located, said the boy’s mother had apparently urged others to help her mutilate her son in order “to prevent an earthquake and save the world.”

Several adults were at the home reciting a prayer, and had apparently been fasting because “the world was going to end,” said Nezahualcoyotl assistant police Chief Samuel Cuevas Monroy, quoting the boy’s grandmother. The mother, identified as Maria del Carmen Rios, 28, reportedly told the boy to close his eyes and when he refused, she decided to gouge them out “to clean them.”

Some reported the mother had become incoherent and began shouting “Let’s kill him, to get the Devil out of him,” Neme said.

Most of the others present at the time were relatives, including the boy’s aunt and uncle, and authorities said the adults appeared to have been consuming unspecified drugs. The mother and seven others were being held pending charges.

The 22-year-old aunt allegedly held the boy while the mother gouged out his eyes, apparently with her fingers.

Neme said it was not clear if the mutilation was linked to any sort of religious belief.

Eight followers of the cult known as “Santa Muerte, ” or Saint Death, were recently charged with the sacrificial killings of two 10-year-old boys and a 55-year-old woman in northern Sonora state. The cult had never before been linked to human sacrifice.

Mexico’s most notorious case of ritual sacrifice came with the “narco-satanicos” killings of the 1980s. Fifteen bodies, many of them with signs of ritual sacrifice, were unearthed at a ranch outside the border city of Matamoros, across from Brownsville, Texas.

  1. > Testimony: After I went into a friend’s family home that was practicing witchcraft; I decided to do some investigating.
    >
    > My good friend has had many family problems; including horrible anxiety attacks, fear, and just recently he lost his brother to a horrible freak(what does freak mean:something that happens by chance although it was very unlikely to happen) accident inside his family’s home. His life has become completely dysfunctional. I have been friends with him for years and I have tried to minister to him for over a year. He had mentioned to me that he thinks his grandmother is a witch and cursed him and his family but at the time he told me I did not think that “stuff” was real. It was not until I went into his family’s home last Tuesday that God showed me exactly what was going on. I was hit with fear the moment I walked into the home. It was dark and eery. Now since the brother just died in the home, ie: innocent blood, I expected it to be very dark. I also noticed a statue of Mary outside the home on the front lawn. The family kept praying to the Blessed Mary and I didn’t know why? I had been raised very Catholic and I have never prayed to the Blessed Mary. I was confused by all the reglious rituals that they were doing: saying strange prayers I have never heard of.

    > I thought I just was there comforting a friend who lost his brother but GOD had another idea. His sister sat next to me and I started talking to her. She expressed all these strange things that were happening to her; anxiety, ears popping, vertigo, visions, voices, etc and I told her about the blood of Jesus and began to pray for her. I also went into the bathroom and started praying in tongues and covering the home in the Blood of Jesus. Well that did not make the devil happy. When I went outside to take a phone call from a friend I looked back at the house and it was scary. I heard the Lord say walk around the outside of the house and pray but I thought this is not the time Lord and I was not obedient. As soon as I left their home and got arrived back at my apartment it was retaliation city. I was speaking to the prophet when I began to get a clicking in my left ear, then I felt something wave over me and I was immediatly dizzy, my body started shaking and I was full of fear. The prophet calmly began to pray to clear me of the spirit that had followed me home and I continued to worship/pray until I felt the presence of God. This was my time to learn how to clear myself of spirits….oh my what fun?!

    > I woke up the next morning with a horrible feeling in my throat and a church elder prayed for me as well. He assured my that God was going to heal me and burn out the darkness but this was a process I needed to learn. I was not to go into a hornets nest of demons full of generational witchcraft and begin to expose myself. So I humbly prayed and asked God to show me what I needed to learn to get to the next level of discernment.

    > God showed me a vision of my friend’s family’s home and I could see demons swimming around it. A dark cloud-like “blob” swimming with demons (fishes) hovering over and around the house.
    >
    > That evening the burning started in my chest (much like heart burn) and it was unbearable so I got up and took a drink of water. After drinking the water I began throwing up flem like substances. After that the burning went away and I was able to sleep. I thought the worst was over but I then continued to have flu like symptoms, and a fever. I prayed and prayed and God told me he was going to temper me with wisdom.

    > God let me go through 5 days of sickness to show me the level of darkness that is out there. God put healing in my heart 5 years ago after my mother died and now he is showing me what it really takes to cast out demons and bring healing. I guess this is what I asked for right? I say that with a smile because this is exactly what I asked for and I told him I would do it again (if that’s his will) and soon as I get better of course. 😉

    > This is where I’m from. I have always felt a demonic presence in my hometown and now it all makes sense.

    > Words like devil, witchcraft all come up when I google Santa Maria. The Meaning of Santa Maria means St. Mary…interesting right?
    > Then I googled Witchcraft and this is what I found:
    > Witches by Hans Baldung Grien (Woodcut, 1508)
    > [show]Part of a series of articles on the paranormal
    > Witchcraft (also called witchery or spellcraft) is the use of alleged supernatural, magical faculties. This may take many forms, depending on cultural context.
    > Beliefs in witchcraft have historically existed in most regions of the world. This was notably so in Early Modern Europe where witchcraft came to be seen as part of a vast diabolical conspiracy of individuals in league with the Devil undermining Christianity, eventually leading to large-scale witch-hunts, especially in Protestant Europe. Similar beliefs have persisted in some cultures up to the present, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa (e.g. the Bantu witch smellers), and have occasionally resulted in modern witch-hunts. The concept of witchcraft as harmful is normally treated as a cultural ideology providing a scapegoat for human misfortune.[1][2]
    > Since the mid-20th century Witchcraft has become the designation of a branch of contemporary Paganism, most notably including Wiccan traditions, who claim to practice a revival of pre-Abramic spirituality.

    > This is my conclusion:
    >
    > WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY ABOUT:
    > 1.1) SATANISM, WITCHCRAFT, OCCULTISM, SEEKING COUNSEL FROM THE SPIRITS OF THE DEAD & FORTUNE TELLING?
    > We are living in a world where we encounter problems daily, worries in our business and our family life. Consequently, we are under enormous physical and mental pressures.
    > In the absence of a relationship with the Creator, depression and loneliness can overcome us. We try to anchor our hopes for survival by holding on to pieces of wood which are floating upon this turbulent sea of life. Often in despair, we seek sorcerers, fortune tellers, soothsayers and one who calls on spirits or practices witchcraft. We do this in the hope of hearing some soothing news. People try to quench their thirsty spirits in an effort to find some consolation.
    > The secret of a truly successful life is to have an obedient knowledge of God’s Word in a living relationship with God. It is only God who is capable of giving consolation to the insecure soul.
    > The Bible tells us in Deuteronomy 18:10-13; “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you. You shall be blameless before the LORD your God.”
