Facbook is reportedly offering news companies millions for them to publish content of the social media company’s site.
It has been suggested Facebook are considering launching a news tab which will allow news agencies to publish stories. This comes as Facebook have been criticised for monopolising online advertising whilst using news companies content for free.
Ely Erlich in a recent online article posed the question: “Is Donald Trump a bad president or does the media exaggerate his faults?”
Erlich argues that the media is in fact pushing a false narrative. He used as his argument the coverage CNN and NYT gave to a press conference in the White House where the President hosted people from throughout the world sharing their stories about the religious persecution they had experience.
CNN-NYT pushed the narrative the President was unfeeling, and racist in his dealings with a young Yazidi Christian, who had been raped and watched members of her family massacred. The news story said the President did not know her story. However the reason for the conference was to allow the woman and the others present to tell their stories to the global media, allowing them a voice, highlighting the injustices they had suffered. Attendees to the event praised the President for his work in this area, and the opportunity to share their stories. However, CNN and NYT turned the story into an attack on the President.

Jason Blum the founder of Blumhouse, and notorious Trump-hater, was booed off stage at the 32rd Israeli Film Festival in LA after he blamed the President for the rise in anti-semitism.
“A lot is on the line, the last two years have been hard for all of us who cherish the freedom as citizens of this country,” the BlacKkKlansman producer said, triggering boos. “As you can see from this auditorium, it’s the end of civil discourse. We have a president who calls the press the enemy of the people. Thanks to our president, antisemitism is on the rise.”
After markets rebounded after they fell to their lowest point on Tuesday. Economists are warning that there are signs of a Lehman Brother’s like collapse.
“At this point, we think it would be a mistake to dismiss the possibility of a Lehman-like shock as a mere tail risk,” Nomura macro and quant strategist Masanari Takada said in a note Tuesday. “The pattern in US stock market sentiment has come to even more closely resemble the picture of sentiment on the eve of the 2008 Lehman Brothers collapse that marked the onset of the global financial crisis.”
The next sell-off could resemble a Lehman Brother’s like collapse. Nomura is basing its view on data showing hedge funds fleeing the market and said more are set to exit when their algorithms are triggered by rising volatility.
The Feds reduced interest rates this week by 0.25%. The rate reduction not only reduces repayments on variable rate loans; but also affects yields on investments.
Seniors are bing told to re-evaluate their investments to ensure they are yielding enough. In the past retirees would take on more risk with their investments. This has paid off with the long term bullish market. However, economists are warning that when this gives out these yields will fall, and high risk portfolios will be at particular risk.
“The stock market has been hitting all-time highs, but the reason we’re facing lower interest rates is because the economy seems to be slowing down and we’re heading toward a recession,” said Leon LaBrecque, certified financial planner and chief growth officer at Sequoia Financial Group in Troy, Michigan.
A library in Portland, Oregon, has deleted a photograph from Flickr which appeared to show a young child fondling the fake breasts of a drag queen during story hour. The photo showed Anthony Hudson, aka “Carla Rossi.” lying on the floor laughing as young children buried themselves on him and fondled his fake breasts, however LifeSiteNews archived the photos.
The photos first came to the public’s attention after a Facebook user posted them saying, “I wouldn’t let my kids crawl on top of random strangers no matter how said strangers are dressed.”
Drag Queen story hours have become popular in libraries across the country. However, the safety of such events was called into question when it was discovered that the Drag Queen working in Houston Library system, had a conviction for sexual assault against an eight year old boy.
The Trump administration have asked that the Supreme Court Stay a lower court order blocking the reallocation of Pentagon Funds to the building of the border wall. The administration wants the ruling to be put on hold whilst litigation is ongoing.
However a group of environmentalists and House Democrats have urged the Supreme Court to uphold the court order. Saying that, “If a stay is granted and wall construction begins, there will be no turning back”
The Satanic Temple has seen it’s numbers rise in recent years in Canada. Although there is only one official chapter in Ottawa, there are unofficial meetings emerging throughout the country.
Many of the new members are former Roman Catholics. The organisation says they do not “worship Satan”. However, events see attendees proclaiming, “Hail Satan!” and performing Black Masses, as well as unbaptisms.
The organisation sees its vision to advance the separation of church and state. The Satanic Temple’s literature describes their vision as: “the communication and motivation of politically aware Satanists, secularists and advocates for individual liberty.”

There are more than 100 million users after celebrities posted pictures, which used the app, on social media went viral. However the app has raised concerns over user privacy.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for the FBI and the FTC, the US consumer protection body, to “look into the national security & privacy risks” The Russian developed app uploads users photos to their own servers raising questions as to the use the company could make to the vast amounts of data they are amassing.
“FaceApp’s location in Russia raises questions regarding how and when the company provides access to the data of U.S. citizens to third parties, including potentially foreign governments,” the New York senator said in a letter to the FBI.
“It would be deeply troubling if the sensitive personal information of US citizens was provided to a hostile foreign power actively engaged in cyber hostilities against the United States,” he added.
There has been a 36% reduction in demand for U.S. homes by foreign buyers. The plunge is due partly to tighter currency controls by the Chinese government but also due to a slump in the housing market.
“A confluence of many factors — slower economic growth abroad, tighter capital controls in China, a stronger U.S. dollar and a low inventory of homes for sale — contributed to the pullback of foreign buyers,” said Lawrence Yun, NAR’s chief economist. “However, the magnitude of the decline is quite striking, implying less confidence in owning a property in the U.S.”
The Chinese were still the largest foreign buyers of US homes for the seventh year running. However there was a 56% decline in Chinese home buying in the US in the last 12 months. Although economic factors appear to be playing a part, some are asking if the current political climate between the US and China is also fuelling the decline.
