Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, Aged 87, after a battle against metastatic pancreatic cancer.
Ginsburg was a feminist icon and liberal judge. Her supporters affectionately called her “The Notorious RBG”.
The President is keen to appoint her replacement without delay. This would shift the balance of power in the Supreme Court decisively to the right.

Supreme Court judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg has announced she is undergoing chemotherapy for the recurrance of cancer. She has told the press she has no plans to retire. The 87 year old judge is the most senior liberal judge to sit on the Supreme Court.
President Trump has appointed two judges to the court making a 5 to 4 conservative leaning.
“On May 19, I began a course of chemotherapy to treat a recurrence of cancer,” Ms Ginsburg said in her statement.
“The chemotherapy course… is yielding positive results,” she added. “My most recent scan on 7 July indicated [a] significant reduction of the liver lesions and no new disease.
“I am tolerating chemotherapy well and am encouraged by the success of my current treatment,” she said. “I will continue bi-weekly chemotherapy to keep my cancer at bay.”
