Ex MI6 Boss Says Coronavirus “Likely” to have Escaped from Lab

A former boss of the UK intelligence agency MI6 told The Telegraph he believes the Coronavirus was engineered and  escaped from a lab in Wuhan.

“I do think that this started as an accident,” Sir Richard Dearlove told the Telegraph, citing a peer-reviewed paper by Professor Angus Dalgleish of St George’s Hospital at the University of London, and the Norwegian virologist Birger Sorensen.

The authors say hey believe the virus has been engineered to bind to humans.

“We are aware that these findings could have political significance and raise troubling questions.”

Dearlove added: “[A]s this debate about the virus develops, I think all this material is going to be in print and is going to embarrass a number of people, I think. Let’s suggest that the Chinese maybe have too much say in their journals, in what appears and what doesn’t.”

He added: “Look, the Chinese understand us extremely well. They have made a study of us over the last decade or longer, particularly through attending our universities. We understand the Chinese very poorly. It’s an imbalanced relationship in that respect.”

DE Blasio Claims Covid-19 Spike in New York Unlikely to be Casued by Protesters

New York has seen a spike in Covid 19  hospitalizations in the last 24 hours. The 75% increase in new admissions is still below the limit to halt the reopening of the city.

De Balsio, when asked if he thought the spike was caused by the protests around  George Floyd’s death said, “I would be surprised if that’s what’s causing it,” de Blasio said Friday of the sustained demonstrations that have broken out in the Big Apple and cities throughout the world. “I think we’re much more likely in the next week [or] 10 days to see a manifestation, if there is one.”

However, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been unhappy with the mass gatherings of people protesting, saying, “If you were at one of those protests, I would, out of an abundance of caution, assume that you are infected, …..One person, one person can infect hundreds if you were at a protest.”

Officials Who Pushed for Strict Lockdown say Protests Exempt

Officials who for weeks urged the nation to Stay Home to Save Lives, and demanded strict lockdown rules, now say protesters are exempt.

Cities across the nation have seen protests over the death of George Floyd. Protesters in their millions have gathered to march over police brutality and racism. However, officials are saying these protesters are exempt for the lockdown regulations to stay home.

In Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who’s State had some of the strictest lockdown rules said, “Persons may engage in expressive activities protected by the First Amendment within the State of Michigan but must adhere to social distancing measures recommended by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, including remaining at least six feet from people from outside the person’s household.”

However, Whitmer said protesters who had gathered outside the Capitol, to protest the lockdown regulations, were risking lives, and should stay home.

UK Opens Door to Hong Kong Citizens

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the UK will change immigration rules to allow Hong Kong citizens to come to the UK if China pushes ahead with imposing new security laws.

Johnson said the immigration changes “would amount to one of the biggest changes in our visa system in British history”.

“If it proves necessary, the British government will take this step and take it willingly.

“Many people in Hong Kong fear their way of life, which China pledged to uphold, is under threat.

“If China proceeds to justify their fears, then Britain could not in good conscience shrug our shoulders and walk away; instead we will honour our obligations and provide an alternative.”

California Sees Year’s Worth Suicide Attempts in 4 Weeks

A doctor from California has reported that they have seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in 4 weeks. He has called for lockdown to be lifted, pointing to the growing mental health crisis it is producing.

“We’ve never seen numbers like this, in such a short period of time,” Dr. Mike deBoisblanc, head of trauma at John Muir Medical Center, told local station ABC7. “I mean, we’ve seen a year’s worth of suicide attempts in the last four weeks.” He added that he thinks “it’s time” to end the state lockdown.

He argues lockdown was to flatten the curve and ensure medical facilities are able to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. DeBloisblanc says this has been achieved, and people should now be allowed to return to some degree of normality.

Beijing Tightens its Grip of Power on Hong Kong

Tensions have been running high within the Hong Kong legislature. A fight broke out over the election of a pro-Beijing chair for the committee. Pro-democracy lawmakers were forceably removed from the legislature.

Under the “one country, two systems” framework, Hong Kong has been allowed to exist as a semi-autonomous region. However, that framework is now up for review. And Beijing are making moves to tighten control of the region.

Furthermore, Pro-democracy activists have also called Hong Kong residents to take to the streets to protest Beijing’s plans to impose new and tighter security restrictions on the region.

Activists fear this new legislation will further erode the freedom and democratic nature of Hong Kong.

China’s decision to impose the legislation hit the  Hong Kong stock market and prompted Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to condemn the move, saying, “The decision to bypass Hong Kong’s well-established legislative processes and ignore the will of the people of Hong Kong would be a death knell for the high degree of autonomy Beijing promised.”

CIA Believe China Pressurised WHO to Downplay Coronavirus Outbreak

A CIA report has stated it believes China threatened the WHO to downplay the Coronavirus outbreak. They say that in the crucial weeks, in mid-January, when the Coronavirus began to spread across the globe, China threatened the WHO, saying they would not cooperate in any investigations into Coronavirus. In the meantime China were stockpiling medical supplies, including PPE, some of which manufactured in the US.

The report has not been published. However, the contents of report, entitled ‘U.N.-China: WHO Mindful But Not Beholden to China,’ were confirmed to Newsweek by two U.S. intelligence officials.

The German intelligence agency have also accused the Chinese leader Xi Jinping of personally pressurising WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The German Federal Intelligence Service ‘Bundesnachrichtendienst’ BND said: ‘On January 21, China’s leader Xi Jinping asked WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to hold back information about a human-to-human transmission and to delay a pandemic warning.

‘The BND estimates that China’s information policy lost four to six weeks to fight the virus worldwide’.

The World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International importance on January 30th.

Fake News is Good When it Attacks Trump

The media is quick to attack “fake news”; unless the fake news attacks Trump.

This week a video emerged that implied VP Pence had staged handing out PPE,  but used empty boxes.

“Mike Pence pretending to carry empty boxes of PPEs into a hospital is the perfect metaphor for who he is and what he’s doing,” Jimmy Kimmel said while narrating the clip. “A big box of nothing, delivering another box of nothing.”

However, the full clip was not shown and after it emerged Kimmel was forced to make an apology.

What the video Kimmel aired failed  to show was Pence putting the boxes down and joking with an aide how the empty ones would be lighter to carry.

Sadly Kimmel’s apology was done with a jibe at the Trump administration.

Sexual Assault Accuser Tara Reade: Biden Should Quit Presidential Race

Tara Reade who has accused Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993 has said he should drop out of the Presidential race. In an interview with Meghan Kelley she went on to say he is willing to take a lie detector test to prove what she says is accurate.

Reade is one of multiple women who have come forward since early 2019 to accuse Biden of assault. She has gone on to file a police incident report in March of this year.

Trump Signs Executive Order to Protect Electricity Grid

The President has signed an executive order to put measures in place that will protect the electricity grid against malicious acts, including malicious cyber activities.

Protecting the electricity grid is central to the security  of the nation. The federal government operates a significant portion of America’s bulk-power system – about 20 percent. To maintain the system parts need to be regularly replaced and maintained. The order prohibits federal agencies and United States persons from procuring goods, products and materials for the bulk-power system from companies situated within foreign adversaries and where the transaction poses an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States or the security and safety of American citizens.

China Accused of Efforts to “Infiltrate” US Colleges, Republicans Launch Probe

Top  Republicans have called for information about claims the Chinese have infiltrated US colleges as part of their “investment in American colleges and universities to further its strategic and propaganda goals” — an initiative they claimed could be “foreign academic espionage.”

The call comes as lawmakers are increasing alarmed at Chinese attempts to influence US lawmakers and journalists in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

In a letter to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, a number of GOP committee voiced their concerns:

“For some time, we have been concerned about the potential for the Chinese government to use its strategic investments to turn American college campuses into indoctrination platforms for American students,” the Republicans began.

“For example, a 2018 Hoover Institution report notes the presence of some 110 ‘Confucius Institutes’ on college campuses as well as over 500 ‘Confucius Classrooms’ in secondary schools,” they continued. “While the stated mission of such institutes and classrooms is to teach Chinese language and culture, the report notes, ‘faculty and other watchdogs have warned that they may present risks to intellectual freedom by using American universities as vehicles through which to advance Chinese Communist Party propaganda.'”

It is imperative that the Department of Education investigate whether institutions “receiving federal taxpayer dollars should be allowed to accept funds from China, the CCP, or other affiliated organizations,” the lawmakers went on, noting that The Higher Education Act of 1965 requires institutions of higher education to “disclose gifts from foreign sources.” Specifically, section 117 of the Act requires that “whenever any institution . . . receives a gift from or enters into a contract with a foreign source, the value of which is $250,000 or more, the institution shall file a disclosure report.”
