Military deployed to protect Paris Businesses against Yellow Vest protests

Many targets by the movement in Paris and other cities included known landmarks and stores or places seen as elitist, such as the Parisian restaurant Le Fouquet’s on the Champs Elysées.

Now, they will be dedicated to ensuring security at the next round of Yellow Vest demonstrations, which have been held every Saturday for the past 18 weeks.

But last week’s demonstrations, which some Yellow Vest leaders had suggested may be their last, turned into some of the most violent to date.

After the weekend, the French government sacked the top police official in Paris, 66-year-old Michel Delpuech, for failure to keep the protests in the capital from spiralling out of control.

Damage done

In addition to the landmark restaurant in Paris, more than 100 other businesses were damaged along the Champs-Elysées.

Major cities dealing from the movement include Lyon, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Nantes and Nice, to name a few.

On Sunday, China’s President Xi Jinping will start his visit to France with a stop in Côte d’Azur beginning with Nice and Monaco.

For the upcoming protest this week, which will mark the 19th week, calls on social media have singled out Nice, Toulouse and Montpellier.

Oldest Biblical Text Found Finally Readable

A 2,000 year old scroll which has been in the hands of archeologists since 1970 has finally been read. The scroll was discovered in 1970 in Ein Gedi, at the site of an ancient synagogue. The Synagogue had been destroyed by a fire, leaving the scroll badly damaged. Scientists were unable to unwrap the scroll without destroying it.

However, new technology has enabled scientists to scan the document, and extract the text hidden within. This ground-breaking technique has revealed the text is a portion of the Book of Leviticus. Scholars were amazed to discover the text is almost 100% the same as in the Bible we read today. Previously the oldest known fragments of the Bible date back to the 8th century.

UNION: SEIU Must Give Fee Increase Notice- Opt Out

Washington D.C.

The Supreme Court has ruled unions must give opt out for fee increases that Unions impose without consent by their members, when said “heads” decide they want to fund a political compain even if the members do not agree with them.

The Court has said this is un-just and union members must be given an “opt out” clause before any increased dues can be expected from them.

This is only fair, and can hinder a few at the top of the union from dictating political policy, especially when the people they take the money from do not agree with their agenda’s.

Doonby at Cannes Film Festival

Doonby” is a low budget film set to premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Set in the 1960’s in a small American town, “Doonby” explores the issues surrounding abortion. The film has already attracted controversy when the Hollywood Reporter revealed that the plaintiff in the Roe vs Wade case, which lead to abortion being legalised in America, played a part in the movie.

Norma McCorvey used the name Jane Roe, when she went to court to force the Texas authorities to allow her to abort her third child. The case eventually ended up in the Supreme Court, who ruled that no State had the right to make abortion illegal. The ruling has resulted in more than 50 million babies being aborted in America.

However, years after the Roe vs Wade case, McCorvey converted to Catholicism and became a strong advocate in the anti-abortion pro-life movement.

The film is set in the 1960’s whilst abortion was still illegal, and many women sought out back-street abortions. Jenn Gotzen plays a young party lover who finds herself pregnant. In seeking to abort the child, she is advised to speak to an older woman (played by McCorvey) who seeks to dissuade her from terminating her pregnancy. The movie carries a strong pro-life message, often overlooked in the liberal dominated media.
