Oregon public schools will be required to provide feminine products along with instructions on “how to use” those products in all K-12 bathrooms regardless of gender, in accordance with the state’s “Menstrual Dignity Act” signed into law last year.

The controversial mandate, solidified by Democratic Gov. Kate Brown, was set to go into full effect during the 2022-2023 school year. A 2021 statement from Portland Public Schools detailed how the act would be implemented long-term.

The American Library Association has elected City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center librarian and self-proclaimed “Marxist lesbian” Emily Drabinski as its president for the 2022-23 term.

“The consequences of decades of unchecked climate change, class war, white supremacy, and imperialism have led us here,” Drabinski said. “If we want a world that includes public goods like the library, we must organize our collective power and wield it.”

If You Use a Ring Doorbell, Facebook Is Tracking You

The Electronic Frontier Foundation says Ring’s Android app is sending your data to Facebook.

Most people realize that Facebook tracks what you do online so that it can serve you targeted ads. They may not like it, but they sort of accept that the price of a free social media platform is a little bit of privacy. Most people have come to accept that even though it’s a little creepy that you see ads for the items you were just looking at on Amazon in your Facebook News Feed, it’s not that big a deal.

What most people don’t realize is just how much information Facebook collects not just about what you do on the world’s largest social media site, but what you do on other websites and in the apps on your smartphone. In fact, according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a privacy advocacy group, that tracking includes what you do with the Ring doorbell app for your Android device.

Ring is owned by Amazon, which did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

According to EFF’s report, the Ring app for Android sends information via Facebook’s Graph.API, including “time zone, device model, language preferences, screen resolution, and a unique identifier (anon_id), which persists even when you reset the OS-level advertiser ID.” In addition, the fact that Ring is sending data to Facebook is not included in the app’s current privacy policy.

As the second-largest advertising platform, Facebook’s tracking code is found in many of the apps you use every day, and it is notorious for being one of the biggest culprits when it comes to collecting your personal information. That’s true even if you don’t use Facebook’s app, or even have a Facebook account.

‘Can you post a meme?’: Facebook changes ad rules after Bloomberg exploits loophole

Policy change involves what Facebook calls ‘branded content’, sponsored items posted by ordinary users who are typically paid by companies

Facebook decided on Friday to allow a type of paid political message that had sidestepped many of the social network’s rules governing political ads, in a reversal that highlights difficulties tech companies and regulators have in keeping up with the changing nature of paid political messages.

Facebook’s policy change comes days after the Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg exploited a loophole to run humorous messages promoting his campaign on the accounts of popular Instagram personalities followed by millions of younger people.

Are America’s Homeschooling Moms at the Forefront of the Next Revolution?

Historian C, Bradley Thompson speaking with Breitbart argues that the army of  American families taking the kids out of public school are maybe the hope for the future of the nation. Thompson argues that in a post-truth society, where the nation can no longer unite over the very foundational ideas of what it is to be American; the homeschooling  moms are quietly leading a revolution.

“So the question is: What is it, what ideas can Americans rally around?” asked Thompson. “If we cannot rally around these words — we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, among which are the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness — then we can rally as a nation around no words.”

The current political climate in the nation is one of fragmentation and division.

“The Declaration talks about four self-evident truths,” explained Thompson. “If you take just the first two, which are, I think, the moral principles of the Declaration — equality and rights — again, Americans seem to be divided on these two concepts. Part of America thinks, with the Declaration of Independence, that ‘rights’ means equal freedom or equal rights, that is, the freedom, the opportunity to govern oneself and pursue one’s own values, whereas the other half of the country thinks that ‘equality’ means that  we should all be the same, that we should be made the same, that we should be made the same economically, that is, we should have equal stuff.”

Thompson goes on to explain how the Left have taken over education and academic institutions across the nation.

“The reigning intellectual and moral orthodoxy of American intellectual life, American universities would be the twin towers of moral relativism and nihilism, and the idea here, and the goal of the left over the last 50 or 60 years has been this long march through the institutions,” noted Thompson. “What they’ve tried to do — and in fact, have done quite successfully — is to take over America’s cultural institutions, particularly education, particularly K through 12 education, and colleges and universities, and that’s where the real battle is. It’s a battle of ideas.”

Thompson continued, “Unfortunately I think, too many libertarians and conservatives and classical liberals invest too much time in politics, whereas John Adams and Thomas Jefferson believed that — what really is the underpinning — the soul of a nation is how we educate our children. That’s the core issue, and so whoever controls the schools, and now also the universities, will control the culture.”

I do have hope in homeschooling,” declared Thompson. “I think homeschooling is one way in which we can recapture this culture, and I would argue, and have argued, that the leaders of the revolution are America’s homeschooling mothers. They’re the ones at the forefront of this change, and I would strongly encourage people to pull their kids out of government schools and to homeschool their children.”

Anti-police violence surges in the tough suburbs of Paris

PARIS (AP) — A resurgence of anti-police violence has emerged in the long-troubled towns around Paris, signs that lawlessness still simmers in French urban hotspots that exploded in three weeks of rioting in 2005.

Violence on Saturday night in Chanteloup-les-Vignes and recent flare-ups in other tough neighborhoods west of Paris have not matched the intensity or destructiveness of the unrest that spread to hundreds of towns in 2005. But French authorities are alarmed because the violence appears pre-planned, with ambushes deliberately set to target police.

Police union officials suspect that rival gangs from different tough neighborhoods are competing for bragging rights in their attacks and are reveling in the media coverage they’re generating, even egging each other on in social media.
